ICICI Lombard has always endeavoured to go beyond its business focus and contribute to the wellbeing of all stakeholders, including the community at large. The company has taken several initiatives in the areas of preventive healthcare, road safety and disaster support being a responsible corporate citizen

Corporate Social Responsibilities

ICICI Lombard recognises and embraces its commitment to various communities across India. Our initiatives in the areas of preventive healthcare, road safety and disaster support have fostered financial immunity in tragic times.

We constantly encourage and support employee voluntarism year-round. In this regard, we have successfully implemented several projects in coordination with the ICICI foundation in tribal districts of India. These programs demonstrate how our community stakeholders, not only contribute in achieving corporate goals but also encourage non-profit humanitarian work to bring a positive change in the society.

Caring Hands Campaign

The Company has been facilitating an employee volunteering program since 2011 under the aegis of ‘Caring Hands’. Employees take the lead in organizing eye check-up camps for under privileged children as part of this initiative. Over the last eleven years, employees of ICICI Lombard have collectively reached out to over 200,000 students from over 400 schools across the country.

The campaign has grown tremendously over the years and has been instrumental in building a sense of social responsibility and camaraderie among the employees.

Ride to Safety

The Company has been organizing a unique program since FY2016 aimed at ensuring road safety for children riding two wheelers as pillion. As part of the exercise, children and their parents attend road safety workshops organized by the Company through its NGO partners. Post the workshop, the children and parents are provided with specially designed ISI marked helmets. The program is run in the locations of Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Nagpur, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Ludhiana. Since the inception of the activity, 165000+ helmets have been distributed. In FY22, 65000 helmets were distributed.

In FY2017, the Company introduced a pilot project to spread the importance of drinking clean water among underprivileged children. Further, the Company installed water purifiers in schools to ensure access to clean drinking water for the children. Till date, 875 water purifiers have been installed in schools across Mumbai, Pune and Delhi benefitting more than 40,000 kids. In FY23, 400 water purifiers were installed across 400 schools and more than 20,000 students were reached out to.

CSR Policy

Funding of critical illness (with support of policyholders):

As a part of our health and Wellness initiatives, the Company contributes to the treatment of critical illness (e.g. cancer treatment) for underprivileged children/people. It also seeks support from policyholders and work towards matching the contribution made during purchase of policy or claim settlement.

Solar Panel Installation:

: As part of Company’s ESG initiative, the pilot project of installing solar panel in 10 schools of Mumbai was taken up with an aim to reduce its carbon emission.

Covid-19 relief focused CSR initiatives:

Since the outbreak of Coronavirus, the Company has taken several timely steps to assist the authorities in curtailing its spread. In FY23, the Company implemented the following activities for Covid relief –

i) Offering support by providing lifesaving equipment The Company provided emergency support equipment i.e. Oxygen concentrators to select locations that had witnessed a rapid increase in Covid cases in the second wave. These included Delhi, Lucknow, and Nagpur where hospitals were struggling with oxygen supplies for the critically affected patients. The Company supplied 1000 oxygen concentrators (5 liter, 10 liter) across these locations. Over 21,000 patients benefited from these concentrators in a short period of 3 months as on date.

ii) Preventive care and immediate medical support: The Company partnered with the Neotia group to set up a 58-bed dedicated Covid care center at New Town, West Bengal to treat cases of Covid infection. The facility was set up in just 12 days, under the Government’s enabling measure of allowing setting up Satellite Health Facility canter’s to provide medical infrastructure amid rising cases of the virus.

iii) Facilitating vaccination of underprivileged citizens The Company organized free vaccination drives for the underprivileged citizens in Mumbai’s Dharavi and Worli village. It partnered with reputed hospitals including Surana Hospital for this purpose. Over 50,000 vaccinations were provided to individuals. The Company has also provided free vaccination and COVID-19 test support to 2,500 senior citizens as part of this initiative. The Company has contributed ₹40 mn towards this largest vaccination drive.

ii) Healthy Villages In FY2021, the Company embarked on a pilot exercise to uplift Primary Health Centres (PHC) in rural locations. To expand the reach of the program, the Company provided medical equipments to 10 PHCs in UP, MP, West Bengal and Uttarakhad The intent is to reduce the transfer of medical cases to district hospitals. During the year, more than 5,000 patients availed the services at the PHCs.

iii) Direct CSR support to Rural Authorised Person (RAP): In a new initiative, the Company extended its CSR benefits to RAPs in rural locations, who come from the underprivileged sections of the society. The Company provided water purifiers at their premises and also invited them to its road safety program and provided them with ISI marked helmets, thereby making them road safe while riding a two-wheeler.
